How the process works

After Sort & Store receives an inquiry, we will make an appointment to meet at the space that needs organizing for a free one-hour consultation. We will discuss what your needs and goals are for the space(s), and I will take pictures and measurements in order to plan the next steps.

Within 24-48 hours, you will receive a proposal that includes a plan and estimated pricing for the work and materials that may be needed. As with any kind of contracting job, I can provide a rough estimate of how long it will take to complete a job, but sometimes rooms full of stuff can be deceiving and take longer than expected. We will also agree on a payment schedule (immediately upon receipt of a weekly invoice or at the end of a specific project, for example).

Once a contract is signed, we agree on a schedule that works for both parties. I generally work in 3-7 hour sessions starting at 9:00 or 10:00 am and working no later than 6:00 or 7:00 pm. I am happy to work alongside the client or alone (with input from the client, of course!) to identify, sort, eliminate, store, and clean up. Sometimes the client already has the tools for organizing, and sometimes they need different solutions; I will recommend and/or shop for the shelving, containers, and other materials needed to complete the job. I will set up and teach you how to use organizing systems that work for you in your home or office so that things stay organized.

Once the session or project is completed, payment can be made in cash or by Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, credit card (Visa, MasterCard, AmEx), or personal check.

Virtual Organizing

Virtual Organizing is a relatively new and growing branch of this business! It involves video chatting to discuss and implement the various steps of organizing without the Professional Organizer being on site. It may work for you if several of these descriptions apply to you:
• You are self-motivated and can keep going with the task even if it becomes challenging, repetitious, or boring.
• You are physically able to lift and carry items that you are sorting, eliminating, and rearranging.
• You are motivated to change.
• You are anxious having unfamiliar people in your home.
• You are willing to consider new ideas and new ways to accomplish a task.
• You are able to send and receive photo and/or video attachments through your computer’s e-mail or phone.
• You are comfortable using computer programs such as Skype, FaceTime, Zoom, or other videoconferencing systems.  
• You have time limitations that prevent the use of more traditional organizing services that would last 3-6 hours in length.
• You have a restricted budget.

•I am willing and able to hang shelves and pictures and do light painting and touch-up work.
•I am thrilled to sort and manage large collections and jumbles ranging from mixed Lego sets to tangled jewelry to mixed hardware.
•I am great at assembling IKEA furniture!
•In addition to standard household spaces and items, I have years of experience organizing theatre costumes, props, scenery, tools, lighting and sound equipment.
